Firm sponsors 2010 Literacy Coalition’s Love of Literacy Luncheon in West Palm Beach
LaBovick Law Group sponsors the 2010 Literacy Coalition’s Love of Literacy Luncheon, Friday, March 26th. Actor and literacy activist Tony Plana is set to host the event, which will take place at The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts - Cohen Pavilion in West Palm Beach.
One of the “must attend” events of the year, the Literacy Coalition’s annual luncheon sells out on a yearly basis. The event focuses on increasing awareness of Palm Beach County’s literacy needs as well as raising funds to support the organization’s programs and mission. According to the Literacy Coalition, the 2010 luncheon will also mark the launch of the nonprofit’s 2010 Read Together Palm Beach County - One Book, One Community countywide reading campaign.
With an overwhelming amount of the 3,000 votes cast by the public, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is the official selection for the campaign. By encouraging everyone in Palm Beach County to read the same book, the Literacy Coalition hopes to promote discussion and instill a sense of community togetherness. The campaign will take place between March 26 and April 30.
Since its inception in 1989, the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County has been helping to improve the quality of community members’ lives by “promoting and achieving literacy.” The organization estimates that 1 in 7 adults in Palm Beach County “function at the lowest level of literacy and approximately one-third of fourth grade students cannot read at grade level.”
With over 20 years of “leading through reading,” the organization continues to thrive due in part to the support it receives from sponsors and community volunteers. In its continued efforts to support the community, LaBovick Law Group is proud to support the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County with the goal of helping every child and every adult in Palm Beach County becomes “a reader.”
