Avandia is a prescription drug manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline for rosiglitazone. Approved by the FDA in 1999, Avandia is given to patients with type 2 diabetes.

In 2007, new studies showed even greater riskes for Avandia users; there was an increased risk for patients to have a heart attack or more tragically death. There was a 64 percent higher rate of death and a 43 percent higher rate of heart attack based on a study that monitored over 27,000 people taking Avandia.
